Weekends = Street Fairs

Upon waking this morning and greeting the day, low and behold the first street fair of the neighborhood was setting up.  And you know what that means… awesome food and fashion!

The smells at street fairs are a melting pot of different cuisines fighting for your attention.  Chicken, turkey, pork, mango, watermelon, strawberries, corn, sweets, Greek, Asian, Hispanic, American all side by side.

OK, I know, this is a fashion blog, but the colors and shapes and smells were incredible.

Now on to the other subject of fashion.  Usually you see a wide array of fashion do’s & don’ts at these things.  Maybe because it was a Sunday and people were wandering through on their way home from church, or the fact that the weather was very mild, but everyone was dressed appropriately for the day.   There was definitely an interesting selection of things available for people to try on or wonder “Who wears/buys this stuff?”.

This pile of costume jewelry, mostly bracelets, was so colorful.  Most of it made me think of playing dress up when I was little.

Pocket watch necklaces must be an up and coming trend because they were everywhere.  It did remind me of Project Runway and Michele with her awesome coat in the finale.  Image

Ok, there is a lot going on here.  First, the breast plate/enormous necklace.  I like the colors of this. It would take an extremely confident woman to wear it and that’s not me!  The belt is more likely to be purchased by more people.  Then there’s the chain around the waist/hips.  I actually know someone who is a belly dancer, I definitely see her wearing this!

Wow!  “Designer” clothes on sale!  That skirt looks like maybe it was fished out of the reject pile at the designer’s studio. This sparkly top was next to the sign, maybe to attract people to the booth.

Oh and did you know they have “designer suits” available too?

There were lots of Hat booths.  I loved watching people try them on.  I like the woman in the red hat, she should get it.  The guy trying on the Hipster Hat, mmmm, I’m undecided.  Are Hipster Hats still in?

These two gentlemen were the BEST balloon art guys I’ve ever seen.  The things they created were beautiful.  Observe:

More hats and handbags- for those of you saving beer bottle caps, here’s a fun idea!

There were lots of sunglasses booths, but these were the best.

Wait!  There’s Mr. Nutrition!  What’s he doing here at a street fair?  (that’s a brave man who dresses up in a bright green, lycra suit)

I guess he’s trying to save us from the giant cupcakes!

As I was walking towards home I spied this bright blouse.  On me it would look awful, but for her it was beautiful.  I love spring and all the bright clothes.

Well, one street fair down, countless more to go.
